UNBOUND
Zachary Ajour
Unbound is an investigation into the properties of masking tape- its fragility, translucency, and its ability to connect to itself. Focusing upon the unique ripples I simply began to create in a somewhat meditative fashion. From the beginning the idea was to take the multiple and turn it into a full enclave of a room. This overall installation- similarly to each individual piece- grew into its inevitable fall of gravity. At the start they hold a specific space; over time however the gallery will become an unbound entangles chaos.

This is a delightful exploration of masking tape. The natural looking ripples seemed to have grown into such delicate and ephemeral forms; I was unable to discover what your material was.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
There is something about it that has a gross stickiness about it, but despite that it is very beautiful and delicate. Then if it looks sticky in a way then you think about how it is made out of sticky tape and thats really neat. At first glance it looked like lace , but I like that is it not and is made of tape. Nice use of material.
ReplyDeleteI have seen many people explore the use of tape yet each time they manage to come up with something new. I love this piece. The curvature is beautiful in some of the lines. This is a very appealing piece even though the material is fairly simplistic. Great job I am curious to see what else you could do with tape.
